Instructors


Christine DeJesus Owner/Artistic Director

Christine DeJesus is the instructor and choreographer for Elite Dance Academy. Christine graduated from St. John's University with a B.S. in Mass Communications.  She has trained extensively in all styles of dance such as tap, jazz, ballet, lyrical, and hip hop.  Having trained under the guidance of many great teachers, she has been the recipient of numerous regional and national titles such as Pre-teen Miss DEA Nationals, Sr. Miss All American Nationals, Sr. Miss Dance Explosion, and Sr. Miss On stage America just to name a few.  She has also received scholarships from prestigious organizations such as New York City Dance Alliance and Jump Conventions. 

 

Her professional credits include 2006 tour with Mylene Farmer in Paris, 2006 MTV Awards with Shakira, 2007 Fashion Rocks with Fergie, the movie "Music and Lyrics" with Huge Grant and Drew Barrymore, 1800 Ok Cable commercial, 2011 Fashions Night 0ut with Joss Stone, 2012 Flash Mob with Nicki Minaj and Nokia, performances with Melissa Gorga from The Real Housewives of NJ. 


She has studied and worked with many choreographers from “So You Think You Can Dance” such as Dan Karaty, Brian Friedman, Mia Michaels, Napoleon and Tabitha, Ray Leeper, Desmond Richardson, Andy Blankenbuehler, Tyce Diorio, Laurie Ann Gibson, Mandy Moore and A.C. Ciulla just to name a few. 


Christine has been able to combine her years of extensive professional training and her love of teaching to create a unique experience in dance education for all her students.   

Kristina Zivkovic
Kristina Zivkovic is 21 years old from Queens, New York. She has been dancing for 19 years and has competed for 11 years. Kristina has been trained in ballet, modern, contemporary, jazz, tap, lyrical, and hip-hop. Throughout her competition years she has won many regional titles such as Miss Legacy, Miss Star Systems, Miss KAR, and Teen Miss Star Power. Along with her titles she has received many scholarships to Los Angeles and New York City. Kristina is a graduate of Fiorello H. LaGuardia high school, where she was trained in ballet and modern technique. She was also featured in Dance Spirit Magazine representing LaGuardia high school. Kristina continued her education on a college level where she will be graduating from Adelphi University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. She is a member of Abstrakt Beings the company and is a N.Y. Lizards dancer for the MLL professional lacrosse team.

Gena

A recent graduate of the Queens College dance program, Gena is eager to pursue her career as a dancer. Throughout her four years of college Gena was a member of the Queens College Dance Team.  She was the captain for two years and competed nationally in the UDA National College Competition where the team was nationally ranked in 2010 and 2011. This past summer Gena interned as an assistant ballet teacher with the National Dance Institute program in Harlem.  Dancing from a young age and competing across the east coast dance has always been a part of her life and she is more than excited to share, inspire and teach her passion of dance to the dancers at Elite Dance Academy.
